Executive Team Development at Nesnah Ventures
"As a result of this work, the Nesnah executive team works more collaboratively. A notable impact has been the recognition that as leaders, we need to continue to learn, grow and work on self-awareness through committed development."
The executive team shifted from working in silos to collaborating as a cohesive unit. More importantly, leaders embraced a mindset of continuous development and self-awareness, recognizing that their growth directly enables the growth of their businesses and their people.
Nesnah Ventures is a family-owned private equity firm in its 23rd year of business with approximately 260 employees. Nesnah's long-term focus centers on enhancing and facilitating growth in their people, companies, and customers. The firm's portfolio of businesses spans fast casual dining, weighing solutions, light manufacturing, agricultural feed production, and fuel sales and service. Nesnah is committed to building a leadership culture that drives sustainable value across all portfolio companies.
Nesnah's leadership team recognized they needed focused training, coaching, and development to take their businesses to the next level. The challenge was not just building capability in individual leaders, but identifying, aligning, and developing the specific competencies the team would need to succeed in the future. They needed a partner who could help them define what excellence looked like and then guide them toward it.
The engagement began with a careful discovery process to understand Nesnah's unique context and needs. The team then worked together to identify and define leadership norms that would guide their culture. This process generated important discussions around what the executive team valued and how they wanted to operate together.
Next, the executive team prioritized the specific roles, practices, and competencies aligned with their future vision. Each leader completed self-assessments and gathered 360-degree feedback to build awareness of their current performance relative to these expectations. Additional assessments provided deeper insight into individual strengths and development opportunities. Complementing this individual work, the team engaged in monthly team coaching sessions, creating a space for real-time discussion of leadership practices, peer accountability, and collective progress toward their vision.
The Nesnah executive team emerged with greater collaboration and alignment. Leaders moved from working independently to operating as a unified leadership force. More significantly, the team developed a deeper commitment to continuous development and self-awareness as core leadership practices. This shift in mindset positioned them not just to manage current growth, but to sustain it through intentional leadership development. The work also informed the development of Nesnah's cultural operating system, embedding leadership excellence into the company's DNA for years to come.
