It’s time to rethink how we fill leadership roles. As we consider candidates, let's get beyond primarily focusing on the individual's past performance and competencies and start thinking more about the candidate's potential to take the team/organization where it needs to be in the future. More than likely, the journey toward that future point will require a very different set of competencies and behavioral traits.
