Options Clarifier

The Options Clarifier

A structured reflection tool for experienced leaders who want to think more rigorously about what's in the way and what's possible.

When a situation feels stuck, the instinct is to work harder on the approaches already in play. That instinct is usually wrong. What most stuck situations need is not more effort in the same direction. They need a wider view of what is actually available.

Options thinking is the practice of deliberately expanding the solution space before committing to a path forward. It starts with honest reflection on what you have tried, what you are assuming, and what you have quietly ruled out. Most leaders are surprised to find that their constraints are not as fixed as they feel.

This tool walks you through that reflection in about 10 minutes. The output is a personalized analysis you can download and use in your own thinking or bring to a conversation with a trusted advisor. Be specific. Vague answers produce vague insights.

Name the issue specifically. Vague descriptions produce vague insights. What is not moving, and why does it matter?

These are the operating beliefs underneath your actions. For example: "This person won't change," "The board won't support it," "We've always done it this way." Name them directly.

Most experienced leaders know more than they're applying. What's the thing you haven't fully let yourself do?
